Providing clean solar energy to our community
It's confirmed! Since the solar array was energized on September 24, 2024, the system has produced 126% of the electricity that the library consumed over the same period. This means that in addition to meeting our own needs, the library array is supplying OCEC with an additional 35,000 kWh of clean solar energy to be used by the community.
The Outdoor Library
Fire is part of life in the Methow Valley. These library grounds demonstrate how a landscape design can balance beauty and function. In planning this fire-resistant landscape, the most widely accepted guidelines were applied to help protect the library from wildfire heat, embers and flames.
As you wander through the grounds, imagine that this is your property. Take photos of features you like, and discover how and why to apply these guidelines to your own home.
Inside the library you’ll find additional free information to pick up or check out, including links to local and online resources.
